Andrea Haines

Andrea Haines is a member of Voces8 Soloists and is only available for booking as one of 4 or more soloists from the group.

Andrea Haines started singing at the age of seven in her parish church choir at home in Kent and has since been a member of the Royal School of Church Music's Southern Cathedral Singers, Voces Roffenses, Counterpoint and the Serlo Consort, as well as directing her own chamber choir whilst at university in Cardiff. Andrea now sings with the international award winning a cappella octet VOCES8. With the octet Andrea performs over 100 concerts annually and 2009 will see her tour the US, Kenya, the Canary Islands, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland and Spain. As part of her role in the VOCES8 Andrea also enjoys leading workshops as part of the Hatch My Ideas! education initiative. Andrea has also worked with Sing Up and Youth Music in this field.  

As a soloist Andrea's repertoire includes Elgar's The Music Makers, Walton's Three Sitwell Songs and A Song for the Lord Mayor's Table, Handel's Messiah, Purcell's The Fairy Queen, Bach's Christmas Oratorio and St John Passion, Karl Jenkin's The Armed Man and Malcolm Arnold's Song of Simeon. Future engagements include Handel's Israel in Egypt at the St David's Festival.  

Andrea is looking forward to commencing further studies for at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Anthony Rooley and Evelyn Tubb in October 2009.
